INTERNET 101

HOW TO CREATE WEB SITE TEMPLATES

You will need:
• A Simple Design Idea
• A web editing program

Useful tools:
• A photo editing/graphics program such
as PhotoShop, PhotoImpact, etc.

Getting Started:
The first step to getting started is having some layout idea in your head. The best designs for templates are ones in which information can easily be swapped in for a different page, or different business.

Logo placements in relation to certain aspects on the page can make it easier to swap a logo in for a new template version.

Block color sections on a page can be easily changed to a different color scheme to match a new logo or image.

The second step is to create any images you may need for the template. This includes sizing logos or images to fit your specifications.

The third step is taking your idea and your materials, and combining them to create a page in a web editing program.

At this point final tweaking can be made to your template.

Tip: To make is easier to create new versions of this page later, keep a log of important information for the page: e.g., font styles/sizes/colors, image specifications such as shadow depth/opacity, etc.
